Typhoon Nuri Direct Hit

Typhoon Nuri directly hit Hong Kong yesterday giving us a typhoon signal number 9. (Not enough winds for a Hurricane signal 10)

Tropical cyclones taking this special track to make a landfall in Hong Kong (Sai Kung yetserday) is a rare occurrence. (And so is the tropical cyclone track diagram to the right)

It turns out that winds around the eye are weak (as with most tropical cyclones) and therefore there was a ‘temporary lull’ lasting a few hours.

Hong Kong came to a halt on this day…and we just relaxed (and bored ourselves) at home…

I’m glad you can once again view my blog at an acceptable speed at compid.wordpress.com. As you might have already noticed, compid.vndv.com was dead slow. So hopefully after their ’server replacement’ after August 14, the speed will be more acceptable. For the while, this would be a ‘mirror’ for compid.vndv.com. I know it does not look entirely similar but the posts will be (almost) identical.
